Trnava (German Tirnau , formerly Trnawa ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers northeast of Třebíč and belongs to the Okres Třebíč .

geography

Trnava is located in the valley basin of the Klapovský creek in the Krischanauer Uplands ( Křižanovská vrchovina ) in the south of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands in the area of ​​the Třebíčsko Nature Park . To the north of the village rises the hill Ostrá hora (495 m), to the west the Kopaniny (520 m). In the north are the three ponds Podlipský rybník, Velký Bor and Maly Bor.

Neighboring towns are Přeckov and Rudíkov in the north, Obora, Nový Dvůr and Nárameč in the northeast, Valdíkov in the east, Hostákov in the southeast, Ptáčov in the south, Pocoucov in the southwest, Budíkovice in the west and Věstoňovice in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of Trnava was in 1101.

In 1785 the parish was established. A village school was established in 1808. After the abolition of patrimonial Trnava / Trnawa formed a political municipality in the Třebíč district from 1850 . In 1872 a major find of Austrian denarii from the 14th and 15th centuries was found in Trnava. In 1885 a new school building for a two-class school was inaugurated. The Trnava Voluntary Fire Brigade was founded in 1904. The house of culture was built between 1972 and 1974. Another coin was found with silver groschen from the time of Wenceslas IV. Trnava has had a coat of arms and a banner since 2004.

Attractions

  • Church of St. Peter and Paul, built in 1618 as a Protestant prayer house for the Holy Spirit. In 1620, after its completion, it was given to the Catholics, who expanded it into a church in 1665. In 1785 it was rebuilt in the classical style and the church was consecrated to the apostles Peter and Paul.
  • Kobylinec Natural Monument, east of the village, on the 0.44 hectare protected area, there is a rich population of the pasque flower
  • Marterl on the road to Rudíkov by the Velký Bor pond
  • Statue of St. Florian, consecrated in 2004 for the centenary of the volunteer fire brigade
