The Alte Kinsach pumping station is a listed building for flood protection on the Danube in the town of Bogen .

The pumping station is located in a secluded location in the Oberalteich district at the mouth of the Alte Kinsach . It was built in 1947 to ensure the internal drainage of the dike hinterland in the event of a flood. The drains of the two connected outfall Old Kinsach and Dunkgraben be at low and medium water levels through a Siel passed east of the pumping station building as gravity passage into the Danube. In the event of a flood, the sewer is closed and two pumps with a maximum total flow rate of 2.45 m³ / s convey the water from the receiving waters through a pressure shaft into the Danube. The permissible inland water level here is 313.13  m above sea level. NN and thus 3 centimeters above the mean water of the Danube at this point.

Architecture and history

The two-storey solid building has a floor area of around 80 square meters with an almost square floor plan.

Mahlbusen of the Alte Kinsach pumping station

The ground floor is built into the embankment on the inside of the dike and forms the pump chamber. Access to the pump chamber is from Hinterdeichweg. There is a guard's apartment on the upper floor. It is accessed from the top of the dike, which is reached via a staircase next to the building. The steep hipped roof gives the building a tower-like overall impression. It is covered with beaver tails and exposed through dormers and was last renovated in 2017. From the construction period also comes Mahlbusen . The Hinterdeichweg, on which the Danube Cycle Path runs, lies between it and the building . The two pumps are no longer from the time the system was built; they were renewed in 1984 and 1989. The pumping station was placed under monument protection on July 13, 2010 by the Bavarian State Office for the Preservation of Monuments.

Since the current pumping capacity is insufficient and the existing system cannot be expanded accordingly, a new building about a hundred meters west of the existing building with a pumping capacity of 8 m 3 / s is being planned. The existing building including Mahlbusen is to be preserved as a monument, but without a technical function.
