The Studenec – Křižanov railway is a regional railway connection in the Czech Republic . It runs from Studenec u Třebíče ( Studenetz ) via Velké Meziříčí ( Gross Meseritsch ) to Křižanov . The Studenec-Velké Meziříčí section was originally of the Hungarian Austrian-priv. State Railways (bridge) as a secondary web built and operated in the further path originated to 1953 as a gap closure to the new route Brno Havlíčkův Brod by the Czechoslovak State Railways (CSD).

According to a decree of the Czech government, the line has been classified as a regional railway ("regionální dráha") since December 20, 1995.

history

The concession for the “secondary railway” Studenetz – Gross Meseritsch received the StEG together with the route Segen Gottes – Okříško on December 28, 1882. Part of the concession was the obligation to complete the licensed railway by September 1, 1885 and “ open to the public to be handed over ". The duration of the concession was set until December 31, 1965. The line was opened on June 12, 1886. The StEG carried out the operation itself.

On January 1st, 1908, the kk Staatsbahnen (kkStB) took over the management. With the nationalization of the StEG on October 15, 1909, the infrastructure came to the kkStB. In 1912, the timetable of the secondary railway indicated four pairs of trains, 2nd and 3rd class. They needed a little over an hour for the 23-kilometer route. After the collapse of Austria-Hungary in October 1918, the route was transferred to the newly founded Czechoslovak State Railways (ČSD).

With the use of modern motor trains in the mid-1930s, travel times were shortened and the timetable was tightened. The winter timetable of 1937/38 recorded seven pairs of passenger trains, three of which were motorized trains.

During the Second World War , the route lay entirely in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia . The operators were now the Protectorate Railways Bohemia and Moravia (ČMD-BMB). On May 9, 1945, the entire line came back to the ČSD.

In connection with the construction of the Brno – Havlíčkův Brod line, the line was extended to Křižanov in the early 1950s. The new line was opened on December 20, 1953.

On January 1, 1993, the line was transferred to the newly founded České dráhy (ČD) in the course of the dissolution of Czechoslovakia . Since 2003 it has been part of the network of the state infrastructure operator Správa železniční dopravní cesty (SŽDC).

In the 2013 annual timetable, the route was served every two hours by the Studenec – Velké Meziříčí and Velké Meziříčí zastávka – Křižanov passenger trains. Two trains ran continuously over the entire route on weekdays.
