Brtnice (German Pirnitz ) is a city in the Czech Republic .
geography
Brtnice is located in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands on the Brtnice river and on the road connecting Jihlava and Třebíč .
history
Brtnice was first mentioned in writing in 1234 when Wenceslaus I gave the market town to the Cistercian monastery Porta Coeli . Six years later, it was returned to royal ownership in exchange for Svatoslav and the Pánov Fortress . In 1410 Brtnice came to the Counts Waldstein , who also held the mighty Ruckstein Castle .
Up until the Thirty Years' War , the town was one of the richest trade and handicrafts in the region.
In 1623 Rambold XIII bought . von Collalto acquired the Pirnitz rule for 110,000 thalers. Under the rule of the Counts of Collalto et San Salvatore, the castle, the church and the monastery were renovated several times under the direction of Giovanni Battista Pieroni . The Counts of Collalto, who held the family entails until 1945 , which consisted of the dominions of Pirnitz, Czerna and Deutsch Rudoletz , had a lasting impact on the appearance of the town, whose marketplace was made up of houses from the Baroque and Renaissance periods .
Until 1918, Brtnice belonged to Austria-Hungary . Since 2000 Brtnice has been a town again. The leather processing industry predominates in Brtnice, and the city is also considered a resort.
