history

The place was created during the colonization of the Bohemian border areas to Moravia by the Seelau with German settlers. The first written mention of Steindorf took place in 1366. The residents of Steindorf , which was also known as Hladow , lived from pasture farming. The Schwammenhof and a settlement of the same name, which were referred to as Hubenow in Czech-language documents , were later built southeast of Steindorf . In 1436 , King Sigismund handed over the Seelau monastery property, orphaned during the Hussite Wars , to the protection and administration of Nikolaus Trčka von Lípas with the consent of the abbot who had fled to Iglau . After Georg von Podiebrad had assigned the monastery property to the Trčka von Lípa in 1458 in the land table , the rule of Stöcken came into being . In 1599, Christoph Jaroslaw Trčka von Lípa sold the village of Hladow / Steindorf and the Hubenow / Schwammenhof farm to the city of Iglau for 600 shock . Over the years the old village was given the name Alt Steindorf and the Schwammenhof was called Neu Steindorf . Both places were owned by Iglauer citizens until 1848. They belonged to the Iglauer Sprachinsel and were mostly inhabited by Germans.

After the abolition of patrimonial Old and New Steindorf as well as Höfen and Jesau formed the municipality of Steindorf / Hubenov in the Polish district from 1850 . In 1878 Steindorf was assigned to the Deutschbrod district . In the 1880s, Höfen and after 1900 also Jesau became independent. After the Second World War, the German residents were expelled . In 1949 the municipality was assigned to the Okres Jihlava-okolí and since 1961 it has belonged to the Okres Jihlava . In 1953 the volunteer fire brigade was founded . In the 1960s, new residential buildings were built in Starý Hubenov, and in the 1970s in Nový Hubenov.
