Věžnice (German Wieznitz , 1939-1945 Wesenz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located ten kilometers south of Polná and belongs to the Okres Jihlava .
geography
Věžnice is located in the west of the Arnolecké hory on the Jamenský stream , which rises east of the village on the Kopeček (627 m). To the north rises the Skalek (626 m), in the southeast of the Řehořovský vrch ( Regensberg , 644 m) and in the south of the Pahorek (607 m). The D1 / E 50 / E 65 motorway runs through Věžnice , the next exit is Velký Beranov .
Neighboring towns are Nadějov , Arnolec and Jersín in the northeast, Meziříčko in the east, Řehořov and Kamenička in the southeast, Kamenice and Bítovčice in the south, Vysoké Studnice in the southwest, Kozlov in the west and Rybné in the northwest.
history
It is believed that Věžnice was founded in the 13th century. The village was first mentioned in writing in 1539.
After the abolition of patrimonial Věžnice formed a municipality in the Jihlava district from 1850 . Between 1949 and 1960 it belonged to the Okres Jihlava-okolí and since 1961 again to the Okres Jihlava . Between 1995 and 1998 Věžnice took part in the Village of the Year competition four times and in 1998 was the winner in the South Moravian Region .
