history

Center with chapel

The first written mention of the village took place in 1226 together with other places in a certificate of ownership Honorius III. for the Seelau monastery . In 1458, Georg von Podiebrad left the Seelau monastery property, which had been orphaned since the Hussite Wars , to Lord Trčka von Lípa . In 1601 the Trčka sold the Jenikau rule with the town of Windig Jenikau and 22 villages to Matthias Stubegg Knight of Königstein ( Matyáš Štubík z Königštejna ) , who came from an ennobled Iglau patrician family . The Stubegg sold the rule to Magdalena Trčka von Lobkowicz in 1619 . During the Thirty Years' War the area became impoverished and subsequently foreign aristocrats quickly took turns as owners and pushed through the re-Catholicization of the population. Under Johann Baptist Ritter von Minetti, who bought the estate in 1719, an economic and cultural boom began. His legacy flowed into the secular endowment fund Herrschaft Windig Jenikau, which subsequently leased the estate to various owners. In 1838 the Counts of Rummerskirch bought the rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial Kalhau / Kalhov formed a community in the Deutschbrod district from 1850 . At the beginning of the 20th century, Kalhov was assigned to the Humpolec District. Since 1961 the municipality belongs to the Okres Jihlava .
