Věžnička (German Klein Wiesnitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located three kilometers south of Polná and belongs to the Okres Jihlava .
geography
Věžnička is located in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands in the valley of the Jamenský stream . The Bohemian village is located a good kilometer north of the historic border with Moravia . North of the village rises the Březina (574 m) and behind it the Na Homoli (568 m).
Neighboring towns are Polná in the north, Záborná in the northeast, Dobroutov in the east, Lipina in the southeast, Jamné and Rytířsko in the south, Měšín in the southwest, Ždírec in the west and Dobronín , Filipovské Chaloupky and Lísek in the northwest.
history
The first written mention of the village belonging to the Polna domain was in 1502.
After the abolition of patrimonial Malá Věžnice formed a municipality in the Polna district from 1850. Since 1877 it belonged to the Deutschbrod district . In 1899 the Hilsner case attracted attention. When 19-year-old Anežka Hrůzová from Malá Věžnice was murdered in the forest between her hometown and Polna, a trial took place in which the Jewish shoemaker Leopold Hilsner from Polna was convicted as a ritual murderer under questionable circumstances. In 1924 the place was named Věžnička . Since 1961 the municipality belongs to the Okres Jihlava .
