Lazar Kitanoski

Lazar Kitanoski (often also Lazar Kitanovski ; in Cyrillic script : Лазар Китаноски or Лазар Китановски; born April 25, 1948 in Ohrid ; † May 19, 2011 in Skopje ) was a Macedonian lawyer, politician and university professor.

He studied law and sociology at the University of Skopje . He received his doctorate in 1995 with a thesis on sociological aspects of the political processes in Macedonia and the functioning of the model of parliamentary democracy . He was a member of the editorial board of Dijalog magazine , secretary of the Society for Sociology of the Republic of Macedonia and one of the founders of the Forum for Human Rights in Macedonia . He taught legal sociology and political sociology as an adjunct professor at the Faculty of Law at the University of Skopje.

Lazar Kitanoski was a member of the SDSM party . 1997 to 1998 he was Minister of Defense of Macedonia; From 2004 to 2006 he was director of the Macedonian secret service .
