The Brtnice ( German Pirnitzer Bach ) is a right tributary of the Jihlava in the Czech Republic .
geography
The Brtnice rises in a pond between Lesná and Chalupy in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands . Along its course to the north are Předín , Opatov , Karlín, Brodce, U Brodců, Kněžice , Víska, Rychlov, Brtnice and Prachovna. On the upper and middle reaches the Brtnice feeds several ponds, of which the Vidlák, Zlatomlýn, Strážov, Kněžický rybník and Rychlovský rybník are the largest.
Below Prachovna meanders the Brtnice and forms a deep wooded valley. At Komárovice the river turns to the east. The lower section of the river has been protected as a PR Údolí Brtnice nature reserve since 2001. The village of Doubkov lies in the valley and the Rokštejn castle ruins are enthroned on a rock spur on the right . South of Přímělkov, the Brtnice flows into the Jihlava below the Přímělkov castle stables after 30.3 km. Its catchment area covers 122.1 km².
