Veverské Knínice , until 1948 Německé Knínice (German German Kinitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 16 kilometers northwest of the city center of Brno on the outskirts and belongs to the Okres Brno-venkov .

Veverské Knínice is located on the edge of the Bobravská vrchovina in the Boskovická brázda ( Boskovice furrow ). The village lies between the Údolí Bílého potoka nature park and the Podkomorské lesy nature park in the basin of the Knínický creek. The D1 / E 55 / E 65 motorway passes in the south and west, exit 178 is near Ostrovačice. The Brno Automotodrom is located to the south-east .

Neighboring towns are Lažánky , Holasice and Prachovna in the north, Veverská Bítýška and Hvozdec in the Northeast, Pod Komorou, Rakovec and Bystrc in the east, Žebětín the southeast, Ostrovačice and Říčany in the south, Dolní Říčky and Říčky in the southwest, Domašov in the west and Javůrek in northwest .

history

The first written mention of the village took place in 1233 in the founding deed of the Porta Coeli monastery by Constanze of Hungary . Margrave Johann placed the village under the protection of the sovereign Eichhorn Castle , for which the residents had to pay in kind to Eichhorn. In return for a loan of the Monastery of 900 thaler at Znata of Lomnice, Německé Kynice was in 1535 forced the beer of Říčany assumed. After the abolition of the monastery in 1782 as part of the Josephine reforms, Wilhelm Mundy bought the monastery courtyard. Mundy, who also acquired the reigns of Tischnowitz and Eichhorn, joined Německé Kynice to Eichhorn. In 1830 Gustav von Wasa bought the Eichhorn estate from the von Mundy family. In the same year a foundation was set up to promote children's education.

After the abolition of patrimonial Německé Kynice formed from 1850 a municipality in the Brno district. In 1921 the parish came to the Okres Brno-venkov. In the 1921 census, 968 people lived in the village's 170 houses, including 960 Czechs and one German. In 1923 the place name was changed to Německé Knínice . On January 31, 1948, the name was changed to Veverské Knínice . Between 1948 and 1960 the village belonged to the Okres Rosice, then again to the Okres Brno-venkov. In 1980 the resolution was passed to unite the municipalities Ostrovačice, Říčany, Veverské Knínice into a unified municipality Říčany-Ostrovačice with its seat in Říčany. On November 22, 1990, the municipality Říčany-Ostrovačice dissolved again.
