history

Archaeological finds in the municipal area show a settlement since the Neolithic . The first written mention of Sobotovice took place in 1258 in an exchange agreement between Bohuslav von Holenstein and the Breunau abbot Martin, confirmed by Přemysl Otakars II in Pletzk , in which the former sold the village to the Benedictine order for the goods of the recently desolate fortress Sebranice Abbey of Raigern . Subsequently, Sobotovice remained subordinate to the Raigern Abbey until the middle of the 19th century. There is evidence of a watermill in Sobotovice since the 14th century, and a second was added later. At the beginning of the 17th century the village consisted of 31 farms. During the Thirty Years' War the village became deserted, and in 1656 only nine houses were still inhabited. During the Napoleonic Wars, the village was ravaged by both the coalition of Austro-Russian troops and the French. On July 28, 1811, large parts of Sobotice burned down. In 1848 another major fire broke out.

After the abolition of patrimonial formed Sobotovice / Sobrotowitz 1850 a municipality in the district administration Auspitz and the judicial district of Židlochovice. In 1872 and 1881 Sobotice was damaged by further fires. In 1875 a one-class village school was opened in Sobotice. Sobotovice was on the Czech-German language border and belonged to the Czech language area. The children from the German-speaking village of Laatz also attended school; the language of instruction was German. In 1884 the municipal office was established. In 1887 the older of the two mills went out, and in its place the Podhrázký Mlýn settlement was built on the left side of the Šatava on the road to Laatz . The other mill, Srncův Mlýn , was closed in 1951. The corridors around the dried up mill moat are still owned by the Srnec family. In 1897 the school was expanded to include three-class classes. The volunteer fire brigade was established in 1906. In 1913 she built a new syringe house next to the bell tower. The construction of the road to Laatz, which had been requested since 1919, was realized in 1937. According to the Munich Agreement , the border with the German Empire ran south of the village on Vießbach from 1938. As a result, a customs post was established in Sobotovice. The undeveloped land on Kaiserstraße, which ran past to the east, had to be ceded to the German Reich in 1938. In 1939 the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the Vienna-Wroclaw Reichsautobahn took place in Sobotovice . Between 1948 and 1960 the municipality belonged to the Okres Židlochovice. After its abolition, Sobotovice was added to the Okres Brno-venkov . Until the 1960s, the cadastre of the municipality comprised 470 hectares. In 1980, Sobotovice, Bratčice and Ledce were incorporated into Syrovice . The community has existed again since 1990.
