Jewish school building in Lomnice

The Jewish school in Lomnice u Tišnova (German Lomnitz ), a minority in the Okres Brno-venkov in the Czech Republic , was established in 1781. The schoolhouse has been a protected monument since 2004 .

history

A teacher who was hired and paid by the Jewish community of Lomnice taught the subjects German, mathematics and religion in German. After four years a final examination took place, at which the Catholic pastor was also present as an assessor.

In 1909, 20 Catholic and eight Jewish students attended the school. The Catholic pupils received their religious instruction first in the Czech school and later from an external teacher in the Jewish school. Since the majority of the students had been Catholic since the end of the 19th century, the Catholic pastor, with the help of the authorities, was able to get a cross to be hung in the Jewish school.

school

The two-story school building in the city's former Jewish quarter had classrooms and a teacher's apartment.
