history

According to a legend, the place was created by a missionary Strachota in honor of the apostles Cyril and Methodius .

It is more likely that the village was founded by the Lords of Pernstein during the colonization of the Bohemian-Moravian border forest Hvozd. When settling the areas on the upper Swarczawa , disputes arose between Abbot Stephan of the Litomyšl Monastery , who had the Bohemian part colonized, and Imram von Kamen and Pernstein. To end this, Ottokar II. Přemysl laid down the exact course of the Bohemian-Moravian border in 1269. The Strahwiov stream was also mentioned in this border document . This was the Trhonický potok flowing into the Svratka at Benátky on the right, whose course formed the border between Moravia and Bohemia until 1948 . From the naming of the stream it is assumed that its name derives from a village of the same name.

The village of Strachotov was first documented in 1360 when Jimram von Pernstein promised the Augustinian monastery Doubravník an annual amount of two groschen from the village. Wilhelm I von Pernstein signed Strachotov over to his wife Anežka in 1390. In the land register of the Pernstein lordship, two residents are listed by name from 1490 to 1500. Wilhelm II von Pernstein lifted the obligation to dispense manorial wine in 1500 and released the subjects from the obligation to free fish transport services for the rule in 1515.

In 1588 Johann von Pernstein sold Strachojov together with the lords Dalečín and Jimramov to Paul Katharyn von Katharn. He first made the Dalečín fortress his seat and had Jimramov Castle built in 1593. Peter and Johann Katharyn von Katharn sold the property in 1603 to Wilhelm Dubský of Třebomyslice, who immediately passed it on to Jan Dubský of Třebomyslice. In addition to Jimramov and Dalečín, Jan Dubský also owned the lords of Pernstein and Bistritz am Hostein . In 1619 there are eleven houses in the land registers for Strachojov.

After the Battle of the White Mountain in 1621, the goods of the Protestant Jan Dubský, who had fought alongside the rebels, were confiscated and sold to Stephan Schmidt von Freyhofen. Because of overindebtedness Schmidt sold his goods to Countess Marie Salm-Neuburg, the wife of Field Marshal Count Heinrich Schlick . This sold the rule Dalečín in 1631 to Georg / Jíří Březnický von Náchod , who connected it to the rule Kunstadt . At that time the village consisted of nine properties and one chaluppe. At the end of the Thirty Years War the area was ravaged by various troops. In 1666 six of the ten properties in the village were still in desolation. In 1771 Strachujov consisted of 21 houses and 141 inhabitants. In 1790 155 people lived in the village.

After the abolition of patrimonial Strachojov formed a community in the Neustadtl district from 1850 . The municipality name has been Strachujov since the beginning of the 20th century . In 1949 the community came to Okres Bystřice nad Pernštejnem and in 1961 to Okres Žďár nad Sázavou .
