Sirákov (German Sirakow , also Sirakau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers northeast of Polná and belongs to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou .

geography

Sirákov is located at the northern foot of the Blažkov hill (693 m) in the Arnolecké hory . The Bohemian town is one and a half kilometers west of the historical border with Moravia and the main European watershed between the Elbe and Danube. The Na Hranicích (632 m) rises to the west.

Neighboring towns are Nížkov in the north, Rosička and Matějov in the northeast, Újezd in the east, Bohdalov in the southeast, Rudolec and Samotín in the south, Milov, Janovice and Skrýšov in the southwest, Poděšín in the west and Špinov in the northwest.

history

Sirákov was created in the 13th century during the colonization of the primeval forests in the Bohemian border area with Moravia. The village belonging to the Polna lordship was first mentioned in writing in 1318 in a court record of a claim for damages by the Polna lord of the castle Vikard von Polna against the Vladiken Billung von Schumberg and Bohuňěk von Popovic for robbery and the attack on Sirákov, Poděšín and Nížkov.

In 1725, the Moravian rule, Deutsch Rudoletz, had an inn built north-east of Blažkov on the national border at the crossroads from Sirákov to Újezd and from Rudoletz to Matějov, which soon became notorious as a robber's nest. It was demolished at the end of the 19th century.

After the abolition of patrimonial Sirákov formed from 1850 a municipality in the political district of Polna and from 1878 in the district of Deutschbrod . Since 1949 the community has belonged to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . Sirákov today consists of 65 houses permanently used for residential purposes. There are also nine holiday homes in the village.
