After the abolition of patrimonial Velke Janovice and the Malý Lísek district formed a municipality in the Neustadtl district from 1850 . In 1889 Count Mitrowski sold the farm to Josef Lidmil from Sádek . In 1910 three people from Velké Janovice bought the farm.
In 1949 the community came to Okres Bystřice nad Pernštejnem. Two years later, Malý Lísek was spun off, which from then on formed the municipality of Lísek with Lhota. 1961 Velké Janovice was assigned to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . Between 1980 and 1991 Velké Janovice was incorporated into Bystřice nad Pernštejnem .
Every year on August 15th there is a pilgrimage in Velké Janovice. A hermitage has existed in Velké Janovice since 2005 .
