The dispute over ownership lasted until the end of the 15th century, after which Kotlasy was returned to the monastery.

After the abolition of patrimonial Kotlasy formed a community in the political district of Neustadtl from 1850 . Since 1949 the community has belonged to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . In 2000 there were 136 people in Kotlasy.
