In 1358 Jindřich von Balinka sold the Balinka Vorwerk on the right of the Balinka with all its accessories to Zdich von Kozlov. In 1407 Matěj von Baliny bought both the village of Baliny and Balinka. In 1415, Matěj von Baliny was one of the signatories of a letter of protest from Moravian noblemen who requested the release of Jan Hus in Constance . At the end of the 15th century, Balinky was attached to the Velké Meziříčí rule. After 1600 there were two mills in Baliny, the Upper and Lower Mill, which use the water power of the Balinka.

In the 19th century, five major fires caused great damage in Baliny. In this disastrous century, the village continued to suffer four floods and crop failures. After the abolition of patrimonial Balín formed from 1850 a district of the political community Uhřínov in the district administration Velké Meziříčí. In 1908 the municipality of Baliny was established . At the beginning of 1961 Baliny was assigned to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou .
