Račín (German Ratschin ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers northwest of Žďár nad Sázavou and belongs to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou .
geography
Račín is located in the southwest of the Saar Mountains in a forest clearing in the basin of the Račínský creek. The Kamenný vrch ( Steinhübl , 690 m) rises to the east . In the northeast are the ponds Velké Dářko ( Großer Zdarsko ) and Nový rybník, to the west the smaller Nadvepřovský rybník and Vepřovský nový rybník. In the center of the village is the Jordán pond.
Neighboring towns are Hluboká and Radostín in the north, Karlov , Velké Dářko and Škrdlovice in the Northeast, Nový Mlýn and Světnov the east, Polnička and Na Zadi in the southeast, Šlakhamry , Najdek and Samotín in the south, Bambouch, Velká Losenice and Branty in the southwest, Vepřová in West and Havlíčkova Borová and Peršíkov in the north-west.
history
The village arose in the 17th century in the large forest area west of the Zdarsko pond. Račín, whose name is derived from the previously abundant crayfish , was first mentioned in a document in 1654. In 1680, Račín was converted into a manor . A lime kiln was operated in the vicinity of the settlement.
After the abolition of patrimonial formed Radšín or Nový Žďár 1850 a district of the municipality Vepříkov in the political district Polna . From 1884 Radčín belonged to the Chotěboř District . The place has been called Račín since 1921 . In 1930 the political municipality Račín was established. After the snowfall catastrophe on October 26 and 27, 1930, a forest railway to the Najdek sawmill and Velké Dářko was built in 1931 . The route was used by two steam and two gasoline locomotives until 1934 and dismantled after the broken timber had been cleared. 1949 Račín was assigned to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . In 1961 it was incorporated into Polnička and between 1980 and 1991 Račín was part of Žďár nad Sázavou . The community has existed again since 1992. A ski artery runs through the village in the winter months .
