history
The first written mention of the settlement consisting of three chalets was made in 1651 in the castle rights register of the Neustadtl lordship as a village that was being founded. Shortly before, the owner of the estate, Franz Maximilian Kratzer von Schönsberg, had allowed Passeken to be cut and a settlement to be established in the forest area near the Drei Brunnen ( U třech studní ). During this time, iron ore mining began in the area. The original settlement today represents the group of houses north of the center of the village at the road branch to Žďár and Nové Město. In 1665 the place name "Dreybrunn" is first recorded. The first local seal can be traced in 1749.
After the abolition of patrimonial Tři Studně formed from 1850 a district of the municipality of Fryšava in the political district of Neustadtl. In 1884 the municipality of Tři Studně was established. 1949 Tři Studně was assigned to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . Between 1964 and 1991 the village was incorporated into Fryšava.
Tři Studně is a recreational and winter sports resort. Numerous holiday homes were built in the 20th century. The guests included Václav Kaprál and his daughter Vítězslava Kaprálová , whose house the family donated to the Czech Composers' Fund. The traditional opening of the fountain has been celebrated again since 1993. The hunting photographer and author Vladimír Paulišta lives in the village. The skiers Vít Fousek senior (* 1913) and his son of the same name Vít Fousek junior (* 1940) come from Tři Studně .
