Sulkovec is located in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands at the foot of the hills Šubrtův Kopec (746 m) and Kočího Kopec (756 m) in the headwaters of the Hrabovec and Nyklovský potok. The Moravian village is located south of the historical border between Moravia and Bohemia . The Horní les ( Oberwald , 774 m) rises to the southeast .

history

The village was created during the colonization of the border forests between Moravia and Bohemia. It has belonged to Skály Castle since the 14th century . The place was first mentioned in a document in 1459. In 1462 Sulkovec came under the rule of Pernstein . After the Lords of Pernstein sold the village together with eleven other villages in the area in 1590, Sulkovec was attached to the Kunstadt rule , to which it belonged until 1848. During the Thirty Years War, the village was completely reduced to rubble by the Swedes in 1645. The first school building was built in 1720 as a simple wooden structure.

After the abolition of patrimonial Sulkovec formed from 1850 a municipality in the Boskovice district . In 1949 the community came to Okres Bystřice nad Pernštejnem. In 1961 Polom was incorporated and the municipality was assigned to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . In 1964 Ubušínek was added as a district. In 1968, Sulkovec was one of the locations where Vojtěch Jasný's film Všichni dobří rodáci ( All Good Compatriots ) was filmed . Ubušínek broke up again in 1990. The school in Sulkovec was closed in 2002.
