The state road 37 between Křižanov and Velká Bíteš and the railway from Brno to Žďár nad Sázavou runs through the village .

Neighboring towns are Kadolec in the north, Rohy, Heřmanov and Milešín in the northeast, Skřinářov in the east, Tři Dvory, Osová and Osová Bítýška in the southeast, Křeptovský Dvůr and Ruda in the south, Jabloňov in the southwest, Ronov in the west and Sviny and Křižanov .

To the west, between Ronov and Březejc, lies the Chlístov desert, and to the southwest, between Ronov and Ruda, the Kyjov desert.

history

The village Orziechowe was first mentioned in 1364 when Henricus de Ossaw (Jindřich z Osového az Ronova) signed the rule of Ossaw to Jan von Bechin (Jan z Bechyně). This separated Orziechowe from Ossaw in 1366 and sold the village including Libochová, the forest near Chlístov and half of Kadolec to Mikeš from Borotín. Two years later he sold Orzechau to Čeněk von Letovice. At the beginning of the 15th century Orzechau came back to the Osové rule . Sigmund von Doubravice and Osové wrote in 1493 the village along with Kadolec and half of Bítýška to his wife Markéta von Kukvice.

In 1552 Orzechau became a small manor under Jan Přepyský von Rychemburk, whose seat was the newly built fortress Nový Ořechov and the knight seat Ořechov, which was later called Ronow. The New Orzechau lordship (Nový Ořechov) included the villages of Orzechau, Kadolec and Kyjov as well as the desert village and the desert farm Chlístov. A tavern, brewery, bakery, forge and hammer mill were operated on the manorial estates. In 1609 Lev Burian Berka von Dubá and Lipa bought the estate from Alena von Meziříčí. Other owners were u. a. Wilhelm Munk von Eibenschütz and after the Battle of the White Mountain Cardinal Franz Xaver von Dietrichstein . On June 4, 1687 Dominik Andreas von Kaunitz bought the Neu Orzechau estate and joined it to Krizanau . In 1700, the Kundratice iron ore smelting began in Ořechov . A blast furnace was in operation between 1703 and 1710, and iron ore mining took place around Ořechov in the 18th century.

After the abolition of patrimonial Ořechov formed from 1850 a district of the market town of Křižanov in the district administration Velké Meziříčí. In 1867 the political municipality of Ořechov with the district Ronov was established. At the beginning of 1961 the community was assigned to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . Between 1980 and 1990 Ořechov was a district of Osová Bítýška . Ořechov has had a coat of arms and a banner since 2008.
