history

The upper Fryšávka valley was colonized in the 14th century by the Lords of Medlov . The village of Medlov, named after its founders, was first mentioned in 1348 . The place southeast of today's Fryšava became extinct before 1384. To the northwest, above the source of the Fryšávka, the village of Vlčkovice, documented since 1366, was located . This village was abandoned in the 15th century and referred to as a desert village on the Bříšť in 1486. Since the division of the Pernstein rule in 1500, the area belonged to the Neustadtl - Ingrowitz part. The mentioned village of Medlánky is equated with Fryšava in the local literature, but there is no reliable evidence for this assumption.

Between the desert villages of Medlov and Vlčkovice, a glassworks was built in the 16th century, which, together with the one in Vříšť, is one of the oldest in the estate. Frischawa is first documented in writing in 1560 in the Neustädtler Traubuch, when the glass master Mattes von Frischawa married his daughter Apollena. At the place of Medlov, the Medlauer Teich was built, it has been documented since the Neustadtl rulership was valued in 1587, but it was probably built at the time of Wilhelm II von Pernstein . At that time, Frischau also owned six farms on the Na Kadowie square .

The production of Venetian glass began in the glassworks in the middle of the 17th century. In 1651 Franz Maximilian Kratzer von Schönsberg had a blast furnace built in Kadov and iron ore mining began near Frischau. Glass production ended in the 18th century. In 1711 the Frischauer Glashütte was badly damaged by a lightning strike. In 1718 it was completely ruined by a fire. Afterwards it was restored, after 1729 it was finally extinguished.

The oldest local seal dates from 1749. In 1802 the Martin Eisenzeche existed in Frischau and in 1839 the Matthias colliery has been handed down. After 1850 the magnetite mining stopped.

After the abolition of patrimonial Fryšava / Frischau formed from 1850 with the district Tři Studně / Dreibrunn a municipality in the political district of Neustadtl. Tři Studně broke away in 1884 and formed its own community. The Frischau forester Rudolf Gabessam bought skis in Norway in 1891 and introduced skiing in the Neustadtl area. In 1934 Leoš Stehlík founded the Medlov Sports and Recreation Center on Medlovský rybník. During the German occupation , the Záře partisan group operated in the mountains from 1944 . On May 9, 1945 there was a skirmish between the partisans and the Wehrmacht in Fryšava, in which twelve partisans and five residents died. In 1949 the community was assigned to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . Between 1964 and 1991 Tři Studně was incorporated into Fryšava. Since 1992 the municipality has been called Fryšava pod Žákovou horou . The village is one of the most important resorts in the Vysočina.
