Kyjov (German Kyjow , also Kigow ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 16 kilometers northwest of Velké Meziříčí and belongs to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou .
geography
Kyjov is located in the Arnolecké hory , part of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands , at the western foot of the Kyjov mountain (702 m) in the basin of the Křivý creek. The Belfritský potok rises to the north. To the northeast rises the Hudcova skála (663 m), in the southeast of the Kříb (667 m) and Dědkovská hora (694 m) and in the west the Havlina (706 m).
Neighboring towns are Bohdalov in the north, Starý Telečkov in the northeast, Pavlov in the east, Zadní Zhořec and Dědkov in the southeast, Milíkov and Černá in the south, Jersín and Arnolec in the southwest and Chroustov in the northwest.
history
Kyjov was first mentioned in a document in 1464 as part of the Měřín estate. Owners were u. a. the Lords of Pernstein and the Chroustenský. Their goods were confiscated after the battle of the White Mountain and Rambold XIII. passed by Collalto . Under the Counts of Collalto, Kyjov belonged to the Černá rule until 1848 .
After the replacement of patrimonial Kyjov formed from 1850 a district of the municipality Bohdalov in the district administration Neustadtl . In 1904 a volunteer fire brigade was founded . In 1920 the Kyjov municipality was established. In 1949 it was assigned to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou .
