Since the 15th century, Vídeň had a testator. In 1595, the Freihof was the seat of Vladiken Šimon Vídeňský. The place name was later written as Wyenn and Vieden . In 1695 Jakub Ambrož became a judge in Vídeň, and his descendants held this office until the 20th century.
After the abolition of patrimonial Vídeň / Vienna formed from 1850 a political municipality in the district of Velké Meziříčí . The dam on the Oslava was built between 1957 and 1961. At the beginning of 1961 the Okres Velké Meziříčí was dissolved and the municipality was assigned to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . In 1980 it was incorporated into Velké Meziříčí.
