history

The first documentary mention of Rožná took place in 1349, when Blud von Kralice returned the place together with the Zubštejn castle and other villages to Imram de Lapide ( Jimram z Kamene ). The place is much older, the construction of the Church of St. Gallus took place about a hundred years earlier. In the 13th century there was a wooden fortification on the Hradisko. In 1358 the Zubstein reign fell back to Margrave Johann Heinrich . 1384 enfeoffed Margrave Jobst Heralt von Kunstadt with the castles Zubstein and Pyšolec . From 1417 Boček III. from Podebrada owner of the village. He sold the goods to Jan Hlaváč von Ronov . Other owners were Wilhelm I. von Pernstein and Wenzel Sturm von Ronow. From 1448 Rozna belonged hereditary to Johann von Pernstein and was part of the Pernstein rule . The settlement of Dvořiště has been documented since 1500. In 1596 Johann von Pernstein sold Rožná together with Mitrov to Paul Katharyn von Katharn. Rožná was separated from the Mitrov rule in 1656 and sold to Maximilian von Liechtenstein-Kastelkorn on Pernstein together with Jabloňov, Milasín and Bukov in 1660 . In 1675 Roschna consisted of 14 properties. Until 1720 Roschna formed a special estate of the Pernstein rule, after which it was united with the rule.

The rectory was built in 1765. There is evidence that mining has been carried out on Hradisko since the 18th century. However, the first tunnels were built much earlier, and old tunnel systems were also found below Rožná. In addition to mining on Hradisko, iron mines were also operated near Rožná; this bought the Stiepanauer ironworks in 1860 . Johann Nepomuk Mitrovský von Nemyšl, who owned the rule of Zámecká Rožínka from 1781 to 1799, was a supporter of the Enlightenment and had the temple forest park built west of the village. His family burial place was created there with the Temple of Enlightenment. In 1790 there were 39 houses with 307 inhabitants in Roschna.

After the abolition of patrimonial Rožná / Roschna formed from 1850 with the district Dvořiště a municipality in the district of Neustadtl . In 1949 the municipality was assigned to the Okres Bystřice nad Pernštejnem in the course of the dissolution of the Okres Nové Město na Moravě. In 1961 Josefov (with Suché Louky) and Zlatkov were incorporated, at the same time the village came to Okres Žďár nad Sázavou .

Rožná uranium mine

Between 1954 and 1956, during geological exploration work in the valley of the Nedvědička, a minable uranium deposit was found. In 1957, the Rožná I colliery was sunk in the temple forest. From 1958 uraninite was mined .

The subsidiary oz GEAM Dolní Rožínka belonging to the state enterprise DIAMO sp was the only uranium mine still in operation in the Czech Republic. The extraction took place from a depth of up to 1000 m. Most recently, pitchblende and coffinite were promoted. A total of 20,000 tons of uranium were mined in 60 years.

At the beginning of 2017, the cessation of operations was announced and the demolition of buildings began. Operations ceased on April 27, 2017. If it is suitable, the former mine is to be used as a repository for radioactive waste. The site is to be renatured .
