Pertevniyal Sultan
Pertevniyal Valide Sultan (* 1812 - † February 5, 1883 ) was the mother of Sultan Abdülaziz and the second wife of Mahmud II.
In 1829 she came to the harem of Mahmud II. Nothing is known about her life before the harem. Pertevniyal Sultan was of Circassian descent. On June 25, 1861, with the accession of her son Valide to the throne, she became Sultan . A school and a mosque were named after her.
