The Hradisko is an inconspicuous elevation in the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands in the Czech Republic . It is located six kilometers south of Bystřice nad Pernštejnem and is one of the most important mineral sites in the country.

location

The unwooded knoll rises northeast of the village Rožná above the confluence of the Rožínka in the Nedvědička . To the northwest is the only still operating uranium ore mine in the Czech Republic. The surrounding villages are Zlatkov , Josefov , Suché Louky, Rožná, Dolní Rožínka and Dvořiště.

history

According to archaeological finds, the Hradisko was the site of a wooden medieval fortification from the second half of the 13th century. It is believed that one of the oldest economic centers of the Pernstein dominion existed around the mountain . The Hradisko fortress was part of the Zubstein rule and returned to Margrave Johann Heinrich in 1378. The fortification was given to Heralt von Kunstadt by Jobst von Moravia in 1384 and was extinguished before or during the Hussite Wars .

geology

Mining activities at Hradisko have been documented in writing since the 18th century. However, they were made much earlier on the basis of finds from old tunnels. The mining of lepidolite has been detectable since 1775 . In 1785 Karel Ručínský found on Hradisko Rubellit . In 1792 a new mineral was found in the mica of the Hradisko. From 1858 the mountain was leased by the Rožná manor. Later, lithium ores were mainly mined here. In 1918 the mining of lepidolites was stopped. In 1917 and 1918 a mine was operated again at Hradisko.

Between 1941 and 1944, exploratory work was carried out that identified the deposit as worthy of mining. At the northwestern foot of the hill, the Dolní Rožínka uranium deposit was developed in the 1950s. Brown triplite has also been explored since 1968, and crookesite was also mined in the mines . The Hradisko is also a site of tourmaline , jasper , opal and topaz as well as crookesite.
