Andreas Schaad (born April 18, 1965 ) is a former Swiss Nordic combined athlete .

Career

Even before his first World Cup start, Schaad took part for Switzerland in the 1985 Nordic World Ski Championships in Seefeld in Tyrol . After he reached 9th place there, he started for the Swiss national team from the 1985/86 season. He played his first World Cup on December 21, 1985 in Tarvisio , where he finished 7th. After several top 10 placements, he started again for Switzerland at the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1987 and achieved 5th place with the team in the team competition. At the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , he achieved the silver medal with the team. The following year he again achieved the silver medal in the team competition at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lahti in 1989 . Since he then only achieved mediocre placements, he was temporarily removed from the national squad and also started twice in the B World Cup. In addition, he was not nominated for the Nordic World Ski Championships in 1991 . It was not until the Nordic World Ski Championships in Falun in 1993 that he took part again for Switzerland in the team competition due to better results in the World Cup and reached 4th place with the team. His last major competition was the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer , where he was able to win the bronze medal again with the team. After the Olympic Games, Schaad ended his career. Andreas Schaad now runs a small sports shop in Studen SZ. In March 2013, he and his two step-brothers Roman and Fabian Schaad won the silver medal at the Swiss cross-country championships in Sedrun in the 3 × 7.5 km relay.
