Bohdalov is located on the edge of the Arnolecké hory , a part of the Bohemian-Moravian Highlands , in the valley basin of the Bohdalovský potok . The place is the center of the Bohdalovsko Nature Park and is surrounded by numerous ponds, of which the Záhumenní rybník, Hornomlýnský rybník, Dolnomlýnský rybník, Vázebný rybník and Bohdalovský rybník are the largest. To the southeast rise the V Kopečku (663 m) and the Hudcova skála (663 m), southwest of the Křivá (661 m) and Sádek (698 m) and to the west of the Blažkov (693 m). The Moravian town is located near the historical border with Bohemia , which ran about four kilometers to the northwest.

Neighboring towns are Újezd and Nové Veselí in the north, Březí nad Oslavou and Kotlasy in the northeast, Pokojov and Znětínek in the east, Starý Telečkov in the southeast, Kyjov and Chroustov in the south, Stáj in the southwest, Rudolec in the west and Sirákov in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of Bochdalau took place in 1349 as part of the men of Ronow associated Castle rule Ossow . The last owner of this family was Wenzel Sturm von Ronow and Mitrow, followed by Johann von Pernstein from 1448 onwards . The Pernsteiner promoted the town, in which a brewery and a wine distillery were established. In 1551 Václav Chroustenský from Malovar and Chroustenice bought the goods from the brothers Jaroslav , Vratislav and Adalbert / Vojtěch from Pernstein . The citizens of Bochdalau were granted brewing rights in 1585. After Jan Rafael Chroustenský moved his seat to Černá at the end of the 16th century , Bohdalov lost its importance. After the battle of the White Mountain , its goods were confiscated and in 1623 to Rambold XIII. sold by Collalto . The Counts Collalto San Salvatore made Bohdalov compulsory for the Cerna dominion and did not recognize the town's privileges.

After the replacement of patrimonial Bohdalov formed from 1850 a community in the Neustadtl district administration . In the following years Bohdalov achieved the recognition of the old city rights. The second half of the 19th century brought the town an industrial boom. The manufacturer Johann Nepomuk Heimrich had the upper mill and board saw expanded into a large factory. Heimrich was also committed to the common good and in 1874 initiated the establishment of the volunteer fire brigade. After the Second World War, the Counts of Collalto were expropriated. In 1948 Bohdalov lost his status as Městys. In 1949 it was assigned to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . In 1961 Chroustov and in 1976 Pokojov and Rudolec were incorporated. Since April 12, 2007 Bohdalov is again a Městys.
