Francis of Sales Bauer
Francis of Sales Cardinal Bauer (Czech: František Saleský Bauer ; born January 26, 1841 in Hrachovec , † November 25, 1915 in Olomouc ) was Bishop of Brno and Archbishop of Olomouc .
Life
Francis von Sales Bauer was ordained a priest on July 19, 1863 in Olomouc and then worked as a pastor . After the election as Bishop of Brno on July 3, 1882, on 15 August the same year consecrated bishop by the Archbishop of Olomouc, Friedrich Egon Cardinal von Furstenberg . Co -consecrators were the auxiliary bishops Gustav von Belrupt-Tyssac from Olomouc and Karl Prucha from Prague .
The Olomouc cathedral chapter elected him in 1904 to succeed the resigned Archbishop Theodor Kohn . Pope Pius X accepted Francis von Sales Bauer on November 27, 1911 as a cardinal priest with the titular church of San Girolamo dei Croati (degli Schiavoni) in the college of cardinals .
As Bishop of Brno he had a virile vote in the Moravian Parliament from 1882 . As Archbishop of Olomouc he also had such a mandate in the Landtag until 1905. With the change in the electoral law, these virile votes ceased to exist in 1906.
