Wenzel Urban von Stuffler (also: Wenzel Ritter Stuffler ; Czech: Václav Urban rytíř Stuffler ; born September 27, 1764 in Brno ; Moravia ; † May 24, 1831 in Brno) was Bishop of Brno .

Career

Wenzel Urban Stuffler, the son of a master wagoner, joined the Olomouc Canons at the age of 18. After the order was repealed by Joseph II in 1784 , he completed his studies in the newly created seminary and was ordained a priest on March 7, 1789. In 1803 he became canon and councilor, and in 1806 the emperor made him a knight. After the death of the Brno Bishop Vinzenz Joseph von Schrattenbach he was nominated as his successor on July 28th, 1817 and on September 21st. J. consecrated by the Archbishop of Olomouc Maria Thaddäus von Trautmannsdorff .
