Leopold Prečan
Leopold Prečan (born March 8, 1866 in Velký Týnec , † March 2, 1947 in Svatý Kopeček ) was Archbishop of Olomouc and Metropolitan of Moravia .
biography
Leopold Prečan was ordained a priest in 1889 and then worked in pastoral care. In 1897 he became secretary in the archbishop's consistory. Prečan, who received the degree of Dr.-theol. acquired, was appointed Archbishop of Olomouc on November 10, 1923. He was ordained bishop on December 30, 1923 by the Archbishop of Prague, František Kordač .
He made great contributions to the development of the Velehrad monastery , whose former abbey church was elevated to a papal minor basilica in 1928 through his efforts .
Leopold Prečan was an honorary citizen of the city of Olomouc. He died in the monastery Svatý Kopeček ( Holy Hill ) and was built in under his tenure Olomouc Church of Sts. Cyril and Methodius buried.
