Jan Vilímek
Jan or Johann Vilímek (born 1860 in Žamberk (Senftenberg), Bohemia , in the Austrian Empire ; died April 15, 1938 in Vienna ) was a Czech illustrator and painter .
Life
Jan Vilímek studied at the art academy in Prague and Munich. He was a student of Nikolaus Gysis and Ludwig von Löfftz in Munich . Between 1880 and 1889 he painted many portraits of Czech and other personalities for the Prague magazines Humoristické listy and Zlatá Praha . He later moved to Vienna, where he became known as Johann Vilimek.
