Autópálya M44 ( Hungarian for 'M44 motorway') is a west-east-running motor road in Hungary . It starts at Nagykőrös and ends at Békéscsaba , where it turns into main road 44. A motorway on the Romanian side is not planned. For cost reasons, the expressway will be built without a hard shoulder.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the longest section from Kondoros to Tiszakürt took place on December 21, 2016 . This section was opened on September 2, 2019.
