The Meppel – Groningen railway , also Staatslijn C , is a double-track, electrified main line in the Netherlands and runs from Meppel via Hoogeveen and Assen to Groningen .

The approximately 77 km long railway line is one of the most important connections in the north of the Netherlands.

history

The line was opened on May 1, 1870 and electrified in 1952. The top speed is 140 km / h.

Train traffic

Intercity trains are currently running on the route from Groningen to Schiphol and Den Haag Centraal . Also the Stoptrein of Groningen. This ends in Zwolle .
