The Meppel Station is a separation station in the Dutch town of Meppel . It was opened on October 1, 1867 with the completion of the Zwolle – Meppel railway line. The station is an intercity station , which is also served by regional trains.
history
In 1868 the connection with Meppel – Heerenveen - Leeuwarden was added, and in 1870 the Meppel – Groningen railway line was opened. This connected the province of Drenthe with the provinces of Groningen and Friesland . Since then, the two lines have been the most important connecting lines with the north of the Netherlands.
