List of train stations in the Netherlands |
The Almere Centrum station is the largest station in the Dutch city of Almere and the most frequented station in the province of Flevoland . It is the central hub in urban public transport. National regional and long-distance trains run at the station.
history
The station was opened on May 30, 1987 with the Weesp – Lelystad railway line. It was the first stop in Almere. Until 1999 the station was called Almere Centraal (Almere CS). Since the title Centraal is only available for stations with a much higher number of passengers, the name was changed to Centrum , as this also corresponded to the location of the train station in Almere. In addition to the Almere Centrum train station , there are five other train stations in Almere. Almere Centrum, however, is the largest of all stations.
