The Station Leeuwarden is the largest station in the Dutch city of Leeuwarden and the province of Friesland . The station is used by 10,393 people every day (2018). It is the central hub in urban public transport . National regional and long-distance trains run at the station. The station is the end point of all trains running there.
history
The station was opened on October 27, 1863 with the railway line to Harlingen . The extension to Groningen followed in 1866. In 1868 the connection Zwolle - Meppel - Heerenveen went into operation. The station was given its current appearance in 1904. In 2000 the station building was completely renovated and modernized.
