future

As the most important railway junction in the northeast of the Netherlands, Zwolle is to receive a modern train station environment in the future, which will act as the center between the Hanzeland in the west and the historic city center in the east. While the station is frequented by around 52,000 travelers every day, the number is expected to increase to 60,000 by 2021. At the bus station , a new platform to be created to facilitate the transition from the train into the city or regional bus. Thanks to the new bus bridge, Zwolle station will benefit from better accessibility and faster connections to the north and west. New bike racks are to be built on the Hanzelaan and Oosterlaan , while an underground bike station is to be built below the station square in 2020 . In addition, the station square is to be renewed and connected to the track area via two new entrances. An additional space is to be created on the south side of the station. The project is carried out in cooperation with the municipality of Zwolle, the Nederlandse Spoorwegen , ProRail and the province of Overijssel .
