The Roosendaal train station is the station of the city of Roosendaal in the Dutch province of Noord-Brabant . It is an important border station between Belgium and the Netherlands.

history

The station went into operation in 1854 with the opening of the Antwerp – Lage Zwaluwe railway line . In 1855 the route to Breda and Rotterdam followed . The station was the first in the province of Noord-Brabant. In 1863 the connection to Bergen op Zoom was added via the Zeeuwse Lijn . This was extended to Vlissingen in 1872 . Since the opening of the connections to Rotterdam and Vlissingen, Roosendaal has been an important hub in the south-west of the Netherlands. Cities that can be reached directly from Roosendaal include Arnhem , Antwerp , Amsterdam , Brussels , 's-Hertogenbosch and Rotterdam . The importance of the station decreased with the commissioning of the international Fyra train on December 9, 2012, as these trains no longer pass the station as a replacement for the Benelux train Amsterdam - Rotterdam - Antwerp - Brussels and instead use the Schiphol - Antwerp high-speed line run.
