List of train stations in the Netherlands |
The Delft train station is the largest station in the Dutch city of Delft . The station is used by 38,423 people every day (2018). It is the central hub in urban public transport. National regional and long-distance trains run at the station.
history
The first station was opened on June 3, 1847 with the Amsterdam – Rotterdam line. In 1885 today's station was built further north of the first station according to the plans of the architect Christiaan Posthumus Meyjes sr. built. Between 1995 and 2003 no InterCity trains stopped at the station, but the number of passengers increased continuously, which is why the station was reconnected to the InterCity network in 2003. In 2015 Delft received a tunnel station . Today's railway line through the city, which was previously led on a viaduct, was moved into the tunnel, the so-called Spoortunnel Delft . Due to resistance to the project and technical problems, the first two tracks did not go into operation until the beginning of 2015.
