The Breda railway station is the largest station in the Dutch city of Breda . It is the central hub in urban public transport . National regional and long-distance trains run at the station.
history
The first station was opened on May 1, 1855 with the Roosendaal – Breda line. In 1860, with the opening of the railway line to Maastricht, Breda got a new station. At that time the station was named Breda StaatsSpoorwegen . The station was given a new look in the 1960s. In the coming years, Breda's station district, including the station, is to be completely renovated. The project is carried out under the name Via Breda . First and foremost, the station district is to be upgraded, as the construction of the new high-speed line from Amsterdam to Antwerp will make Breda an important hub in the south of the Netherlands. Since the station is not located directly on the high-speed line and therefore not all trains that run on the route stop in Breda, a shuttle service to Rotterdam is planned, as all trains stop there.
