The Almelo Railway Station is the largest train station in the Dutch city of Almelo . The station is used by 8,092 people every day (2018). It is the central hub in urban public transport (ÖPNV). National regional and long-distance trains as well as the cross-border Intercity from Berlin to Amsterdam operate at the station .

history

The station was opened on October 18, 1865 with the Almelo – Salzbergen railway line. The connection to Zwolle followed in 1881. In 1893 the station got a new station building. The railway line to Mariënberg was added in 1906. The station was given its current appearance in 1962, based on a design by Koen van der Gaast .
