The Amersfoort Centraal Station is the largest train station in the Dutch city of Amersfoort . The station was used by 43,710 people every day in 2018, making it one of the busiest in the Netherlands. It is the central hub in urban public transport (ÖPNV). National regional and long-distance trains as well as the cross-border Intercity from Berlin to Amsterdam operate at the station .

history

The first station was opened on August 20, 1863 with the Utrecht – Kampen line. However, this was further east of today's train station. In 1879 the station was given a new main building by the architect DAN Margadant. The route to Amsterdam was opened in 1874 and to Apeldoorn in 1876 . In 1901 the station was moved to its current location. The plans came from the Dutch architect DAN Margadant. The station was given its current appearance in 1997. With the timetable change on December 15, 2019, the Amersfoort station received the addition Centraal .
