The station Duivendrecht is a Turmbahnhof the Dutch railway company NS in the municipality Ouder-Amstel , near the village Duivendrecht , south of the Dutch capital Amsterdam . The station is served by long-distance and local trains and the Amsterdam Metro . It mainly serves as a transfer station and is used by 13,126 (2018) passengers every day.
history
The station was opened in May 1993 when the "Ringspoorbaan", which is part of the Weesp – Leiden line , was opened to traffic on the section between the Amsterdam RAI and Weesp stations . The station was built to provide transfer options between the stations of the Ringspoorbaan and the crossing Amsterdam – Arnhem line . From the start, the M50 and M54 metro lines also stopped at the station . The ICE-International between Frankfurt am Main and Amsterdam Centraal stopped here occasionally until 2007. The Utrechtboog overpass structure was completed in December 2006 . Since then, fewer trains have served Duivendrecht, as the Utrechtboog eliminated the need to change trains from Utrecht to Amsterdam Zuid and Schiphol Airport .

The train station is located about 8 km southeast of Amsterdam Central Station . It is located near the Amsterdam Arena in the municipality of Ouder-Amstel and adjacent to the Zuidoost district of Amsterdam .

The station is a tower station, which houses six tracks on four platforms. On the upper level, there is a central platform for the metro and one for local or long-distance traffic, so that you can change between the trains and the metro quickly and without detours.
On the lower level, the station has two tracks on two side platforms. The station will also be cut below the plain by metro line 53 in the direction of “Gaasperplas”. However, this does not stop at the station.
