The Amsterdam RAI railway station is a through station of the Dutch railway company NS in the south of the Dutch capital Amsterdam . It is a direct train station for the Amsterdam RAI exhibition center and one of the weakest stations in Amsterdam.

history

The RAI station was opened in 1981 together with the Weesp – Leiden line and was temporarily the end point of this line. At that time the station consisted of a platform with only one track. In 1988, line 51 of the Amsterdam Metro was extended over the station, which is why the station received a new platform and two new tracks for the metro. The extensions were put into operation in 1990. However, the metro station is about 10 m northwest of the train station. There is no direct transfer between the two stations. The old station building was replaced in 1991 by a new station with a central platform. The route was extended in 1993 to Duivendrecht and Weesp .
