The Meat Act (FlG) contains market regulations for the classification of the carcasses of cattle , pigs and sheep .

The current version of the Meat Act mainly implements Community law requirements into German law , in particular those of Art. 42 of Regulation (EC) No. 1234/2007 ( OJ L 299 of November 16, 2007, p. 1, 28 f., 95 ff.). The regulations on fines set out in Section 16 FlG cover a range of up to 30,000 euros . Regulations on meat markets and on live marketing at slaughter cattle markets , which had shaped the previous livestock and meat law, were incorporated into other regulations, some of which were also state law.

On the basis of the authorizations contained in the Meat Act , two implementing ordinances and one fee ordinance have been issued at federal level .
