Autópálya M70 ( Hungarian for 'M70 motorway') is a four-lane Hungarian motorway and connects the existing M7 motorway , which runs from Budapest across Lake Balaton to Nagykanizsa and on to Zagreb , with Slovenia .
In Letenye near Nagykanizsa, the M70 continues the course of the European route 71 in a north-westerly direction to the Slovene A5 motorway , which continues through the north-east Slovene region of Prekmurje to Maribor .
From there there is a connection to the Slovenian A1 motorway to the southwest in the direction of Ljubljana (and on to Rijeka (Croatia), Trieste (Italy) and Venice (Italy) and to the north in the direction of Graz (Austria)).
