The Kerka , in Slovenian [ Velika ] Krka , is an approximately 60 km long river in Hungary . The sources are, however, in the Slovenian municipality of Šalovci . From there the river flows to the east, where after about 15 km it reaches the Hungarian area. Shortly before the border, the Mala Krka flows from the right. On Hungarian territory the river turns to the southeast and later to the south through the town of Lenti .

To the west of Muraszemenye the Kerka flows into the Ledava , which rises in Austria (called Lendva / Limbach there, Lendva-patak in Hungarian) and flows into the Mur about 1½ kilometers further . From the confluence of the Kerka estuary, the Ledava forms a network of oxbow lakes and wetlands that is already intertwined with the Mur. Here the border between Slovenia, Hungary and Croatia is unclear, Slovenia gives its territory up to the confluence with the Mur, but according to the official map of this country the Ledava flows into the Kerka and the Kerka flows into the Mur. Hungary gives the Croatian-Hungarian border from the point where the Kerka flows into the Ledava. The Croatian municipality of Podturen lies opposite the river .
